Autograph Magazine no more

Das amerikanische “Autograph Magazine” wird nicht länger gedruckt. Das Heft war neben einigen Vereinspublikationen eines der ganz wenigen Periodika der internationalen Presse für ambitionierte Autogramm- und Autographensammler. Wie es in einer Benachrichtigung der Redaktion hieß, kann der Druck des Magazins nicht länger aufrecht erhalten werden. Stattdessen wollen sich die Redakteure nun ausschließlich auf den Betrieb der Online-Community “Autograph Live” konzentrieren, in der sie eine Zukunft und mögliche Fortführung sehen.Die Mitgliedschaft in der Community wird mit stolzen 29.95 USD monatlich berechnet.


Abonnenten des Magazins sollen mit kostenlosen Monaten der Mitgliedschaft in der Online-Community entschädigt werden.

Like you, I love sitting back with a magazine. But between the economy and competition from the Internet for advertisers, print has become a losing proposition for most publishers. As hard as we’ve tried to keep printing Autograph, we can’t anymore. It has to be a Web publication in order to survive; and on the Web, we think it will thrive.

I know this may be a disappointment to you. I’m sorry. But it’s the future of most magazines, so I hope you’ll give us a chance. If you do, I think you’ll like it…a lot.

For starters, we want to thank you by dramatically extending your subscription:
• If you’re a U.S. subscriber, you’ll get two months online for every month left of your print subscription.
• If you’re a Canadian subscriber, you’ll get two and a half months online for every month left of your print subscription.
• If you’re an International subscriber, you’ll get four months online for every month left of your print subscription.

The new online subscription price is $29.95, so it’s a huge savings. But you won’t just be getting more months for your money, you’ll also be getting more of what you love Autograph for:
• The same number of new articles every month—or more.
• More photos, since we won’t have the limitations of the printed magazine.
• Larger photos, for the same reason.
• Surveys, so we can use your input to help us decide what stories to publish.
• Comment sections after articles and forums so you can discuss the stories with other subscribers.
• Celebrity address success feedback: Subscribers will be able report their success with addresses so you know which ones are working the best. That alone could save you hundreds of dollars a year!

We’ll be adding even more over time, but this is the minimum you’ll get.

You’ll get an email with your login and password tomorrow evening that will give you access to the subscriber section of www.autographmagazine.com. We’ll be adding 1-2 articles a day until they’re all up, and then new articles will be appearing every month.

All we ask is this: Try the Web edition of Autograph for two months. If you don’t like it, we’ll give you a refund or store credit.
